FIRE to sponsor April free speech symposium at Brooklyn Law School

FIRE is pleased to announce that registration is now open for Carolina Academic Press, this symposium will bring together some of the best and brightest free speech scholars and practitioners to celebrate 100 years since “the first Supreme Court cases to give serious consideration to free speech” and 50 years since the landmark case of Brandenburg v. Ohio. Split into four panels, participants will consider the history of incitement cases, their relevance today in a world of social media and terrorism anxiety, and their enduring importance.

FIRE supporters may notice some familiar participants including former president of the ACLU and guest on FIRE’s So to Speak Podcast, Nadine Strossen; professor and author Ronald K. L. Collins, whose “First Amendment News” is now hosted on FIRE’s website; and noted First Amendment attorney Floyd Abrams — just to name a few.
